The research team, in collaboration with the enterprise, has successfully developed an engine suspension with self-healing capabilities. The key parts inside the suspension are made of special self-healing materials. When small cracks or damage occur due to vibration, stress, and other factors during long-term use, the microcapsules in the material rupture and release repair agents, which quickly fill and repair the damaged parts under the action of the catalyst. Through experimental verification, the self-healing function can extend the fatigue life of the suspension by about 50%, effectively reducing vehicle failures and maintenance costs caused by suspension damage. At present, this technology has entered the stage of small-scale trial production and is expected to gradually be applied to mass-produced vehicle models in the next 2-3 years, bringing new solutions for improving the reliability of automotive engine suspensions.
